Vilgain Organic Yerba Maté brings you a unique quality from the natural resources of tropical Brazil. Unlike its cousins from other parts of South America, it has a milder and sweeter taste.
Gentle processing using the smokeless method
The Brazilian climate and soil conditions are not the only things that give our yerba its unique characteristics and taste. The processing method, of which there are several, also plays an important role. Drying with fire or hot air, with its higher temperature, significantly impairs the flavour, which is why we have chosen to use the new, much more considerate smokeless method.
The process consists of placing the leaves and shoots of the Paraguayan holly in a special dryer that operates at lower temperatures. These use air currents to remove the moisture, thus preserving the natural flavours and aromas of Yerba mate.
It is traditionally drunk in South America in a special container called a 'calabasa' with a metal or wooden 'bombilla' stick.
